Three Things to Move Your Organization Forward in August 2020

We like patterns as them help us learn. In case you’re noticing a pattern, we’ve decided to publish a monthly blog with 3 things any organization can do this month to help go beyond their horizon. In August, we’re considering a couple things that were in the headlines recently, and a time sensitive opportunity.

  1. Focus on Distraction. Chances are your organization is affected by people being distracted by senior care or childcare- whether it is day care, preschool or how to handle an older child’s their education this year. We all know this distraction negatively affects the organization at every level, making this formerly personal or societal issue a central organizational issue. Focus on it by providing resources to help your people figure it out – according to SHRM, 1 in 4 companies already are. If done well, it should minimize the impact of this distraction and keep your organization moving forward. Plus, your people will feel heard, cared for and will reward the organization with loyalty.

  2. Float More Boats. Which to say, help move other forward while moving yourself forward at the same time. We all move further and quicker together. Incorporate a Black or LGTBQ business into you supply chain or vendor listing. 303 Magazine published a listing of Denver Black-owned businesses here. The CO LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce has their listing here. Better yet, add someone unlike yourself to your payroll and your profitability is more likely to be above average, according to Forbes.

  3. Make Your Taxes Less Taxing. The first deadline for filing personal taxes passed last month, and there’s a chance you didn’t like the experience you had with your tax preparer, or they stated this was their last tax season. Great tax preparers also now have more time to speak with you. Click here for detailed info on how to find a great tax professional. Check this off your list and get comfortable with the renewed peace of mind that sets in.

Increasing focus, floating more boats, and exchanging dread for elation; great things can happen.  See where it takes you this month and in the months to come.
